LHASANG ON ASPEN MOUNTAIN

January 10, 2007

Please join us this New Year for the Fifteenth Annual Ski-In_Ski-Out Mountaintop Lhasang Blessing with His Eminence Gangten Tulku Rinpoche.

Beginning at 12 noon in front of the Ski Patrol Hut atop Aspen mountain this unique ceremony will last approximately one half hour.

This tradition of holding a Tibetan Lhasang (fire and smoke offering) atop the mountain has been upheld for the last 15 years by Lamas and monks from The Gelug, Kagyu and Nyingma traditions of Tibetan Bhuddism.

The idea is to remove any and all obstructions to health, happiness and well being for all sentient beings. This is accomplished through the Invocations, Prayers and Offerings made by Rinpoche during the ceremony which are carried in the smoke from the juniper boughs to benefit all those present and further to travel from the top of Aspen mountain to benefit all beings in all the realms of existence.
We will also have an offering table upon which items to be blessed during the ceremony may be placed. In the past prayer flags, ritual shrine items, pictures and names of loved ones (alive or deceased) and any items of spiritual significance to the owners have found their way onto the puja table.

After the Lhasang an informal reception for Rinpoche will be held in the Benedict room of the Sundeck Restaurant where warmth and light refreshments will be available.

Please join us for this unique Aspen event and ring in the New Year with Tibetan Bells!

The blessing is free to all but you must make your way to the top of the mountain at your own expense; pedestrian passes for the gondola cost $18.00.
